Get Addiction and Mental Health Services With NMMIP

NMMIP can help you access a broad range of addiction, mental health, and dual diagnosis services alongside other essential services outlined by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). You may be on the lookout for any of the following services, which are covered by NMMIP.

Medical Detox Programs

Medical detoxification or detox programs are essential services. The role of medical detox is to help clients get off of substances safely, often (but not always) before they enter another addiction treatment program.

Withdrawal symptoms often start within 24 hours or less following your lost use of alcohol or other drugs. Some people also experience withdrawals when attempting to decrease the amount of substances they use.

Medical detox programs often last for 1-2 weeks or less. Medication, monitoring of vital signs, nutrition, hydration, and so on are all things that may be provided in a medical detox program to help you achieve physical stability.

Inpatient Addiction Treatment Programs

Inpatient Addiction Treatment Program

Inpatient rehab is very expensive without insurance. Any form of inpatient treatment can cost thousands of dollars per week, let alone the month or longer (30-90 days on average) that most people need to stay for effective treatment.

Getting coverage through NMMIP means that you can get the cost of inpatient addiction or dual diagnosis programs covered.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment Programs

Outpatient addiction treatment can be an alternative to inpatient rehab for those who prefer living off-site while getting help for a substance use disorder. For example, you might benefit from outpatient treatment if you want to continue work or school while in treatment or can manage drug and alcohol cravings outside of treatment hours.

Outpatient treatment programs can also be helpful for those transitioning out of inpatient rehab. NMMIP can help you cover the cost of outpatient addiction rehab.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment Programs

It is common for people with substance use disorders to have one or more additional mental health diagnoses or related concerns. Mental health conditions and related concerns, including untreated neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD, can be risk factors for developing a substance use disorder.

The role of a dual diagnosis treatment program is to address mental health and substance use concurrently. Icarus Behavioral Health offers dual diagnosis treatment for individuals at all care levels.

Medication-Assisted Treatment

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is approved by the FDA. MAT comes in different forms and can help treat substance use disorders. Most commonly, we now have MAT that can help treat Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). NNMMIP can help you pay for MAT.

General Psychiatry and Prescription Coverage

Mental Health Programs

You can get help paying for most prescriptions with coverage through NMMIP; these aren’t limited to MAT. Examples of other prescriptions you can get covered include but aren’t limited to psychiatric medications, like anti-depressants, and medications for physical health conditions.

General psychiatry visits are also covered. Like with primary care doctors, treatment centers, and other providers or facilities, the key is finding a psychiatrist or prescriber who accepts your policy.

Mental Health-Only Programs

Similar to addiction treatment, there are multiple mental health program types available to those who need care more intensive than traditional therapy. Icarus Behavioral Health offers inpatient and outpatient mental health programs for clients without substance use disorders as well as those who do experience concerns related to substance abuse.

Inpatient and outpatient mental health care, like addiction rehab services, are considered essential healthcare services and are covered by NMMIP.

Mental Health Therapy

Individual or group therapy can be a part of a comprehensive addiction or mental health treatment program, but it can also be an integral standalone resource.

We often provide referrals to mental health therapists for clients as part of their aftercare plan. NMMIP can help you cover standard mental health therapy.

What Other Healthcare Services Can I Access Through NMMIP?

Primary Care Physician Coverage Under New Mexico Medical Insurance Pool

Icarus Behavioral Health’s programs emphasize the importance of whole-person wellness. Coverage through NMMIP provides access to services that help New Mexico residents care for the mind, body, and spirit. Here are some additional services you can get through NMMIP coverage.

General Healthcare Services

Sometimes, those seeking addiction treatment have health concerns that have gone unaddressed for a long time. NMMIP provides access to primary care physician (PCP) visits and other general healthcare services, such as preventative care and emergency room visits.

Dental Care Services

Dental health affects the entire body. Like other elements of health and well-being, dental care frequently falls to the wayside during active addiction or mental health concerns. NMMIP coverage can help you get your dental care up-to-date.

Other Healthcare Services

Other healthcare services NMMIP can help you get included but aren’t limited to acupuncture, chiropractic care, physical therapy, and even vision care for some recipients. Call NMMIP if you have any questions about specific services.
